This term has already seen over 90 Year 10 students complete their Silver practice expeditions around Wentworth and Elsecar. More recently, over 40 Year 9 students completed their Bronze qualifying expedition around Castleton, taking in the beautiful views along the Mam Tor ridgeline and Cave Dale.Ìý

The groups have been an asset to the school and themselves during their expeditions, showing amazing resilience throughout and supporting each other along the way.Ìý

In addition to the success on their expeditions, students have also been working incredibly hard on the different sections of their award, especially in the volunteering section. All of our students volunteer in their own time at either extracurricular activities or in the community. We have recently received a big ‘thank you’ from the DofE for our students’ efforts and have been told that their social value impact is over £12,500 to the local community. This is an amazing achievement and testament to how hard the students are working.Ìý

Good luck to the Gold and Bronze students who have their expeditions in the next few weeks. Well done everyone!
